Deputy, European Parliament
Born in 1969, he developed a strong aversion to war by participating in peace demonstrations since childhood during Italy’s “Years of Lead.” He graduated with honors in Dentistry from Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis on the management of HIV+ children.
During his medical career, he also engaged in translating essays on ecology and sustainability. Later, he embraced environmental sustainability, energy policies, and innovation in politics, becoming a Member of the European Parliament for the Five Star Movement (M5S) from 2014 to 2019.
In 2017, he was twice recognized among the five most influential MEPs in European energy policies. He initiated EU legislation on renewable energy communities and updated the Energy Labelling Regulation.
After his term in the European Parliament, he won two Horizon 2020 grants for innovative projects on tokenization and 3D printing related to toys and medical devices. He continued working as a technical, scientific, and legal consultant in local initiatives (Rome’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan; Lazio’s Ecological Transition Plan) and in EU legislation on energy, ecological, and digital transition, as well as the promotion of renewable energy communities.
In July 2024, he resumed his role as a Member of the European Parliament for the Five Star Movement, acting as a full member and coordinator for The Left group in the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy.
